Janhvi Kapoor recently took to Instagram Stories to share a heartfelt reaction after watching Border 2 in theatres.
Posting a picture from inside the cinema hall, the actor made it clear that the experience had left a strong impression on her, especially Varun Dhawan’s performance.
In her caption, Janhvi Kapoor proudly congratulated Varun Dhawan and the entire team behind the film, writing, “I am so proud of you @varundvn (red heart emojis) you KILLED IT. Goosebumps. And the whole team!!!! What an experience,” capturing her excitement and admiration.
The post quickly caught attention, not just for the praise but also because of the close bond Janhvi Kapoor shares with Varun Dhawan.
The two actors have worked together in Bawaal and are set to reunite in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. Over the years, their easy camaraderie has been visible both on and off screen, making her public show of support feel especially personal.
Varun Dhawan’s role in Border 2 has been widely discussed since the film’s trailer release. While many welcomed his casting, a section of social media users questioned his suitability for a gritty war drama, leading to online trolling.
However, the film’s makers were quick to stand by him. Producer Bhushan Kumar and director Anurag Singh openly defended Varun Dhawan, praising his commitment and versatility as an actor.
Explaining why Varun Dhawan felt right for the role, Anurag Singh said, “I think people forget that he’s the same actor who’s done Badlapur after doing something like Student of the Year. I was stunned by his ability to switch. If I was thinking of onboarding Varun, I’d be going to the same Varun who could show that kind of range. I love his work in October, and I wanted that Varun in Border 2. He’s a damn good actor, and he’s got his own capability. When he came on sets, he started hitting the notes almost instantly. People should not forget his range.”
Bhushan Kumar echoed similar sentiments, describing Varun Dhawan as a strong performer who brought depth and sincerity to the film.
Directed and co-written by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is a standalone sequel to J.P. Dutta’s iconic Border. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, the film is backed by T-Series Films and J.P. Films.
Set against the backdrop of the 1971 India–Pakistan war, the film expands its narrative to include the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy.
At its emotional core is Sunny Deol as Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler, mentoring a group of younger soldiers played by Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, with Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana appearing in key roles.
