In memory of late actor Dharmendra, one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved icons, a public prayer meeting was held in New Delhi on December 11.

The memorial was organised by Hema Malini, daughter Esha Deol and former husband Bharat Takhtani, along with Ahana Deol and Vaibhav Vohra, who came together to honour the legendary star.

The gathering took place from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre on Janpath.

Remembering Dharmendra, wife Hema Malini moved to tears as she spoke about the amazing and loving human that he was. "Woh sabse bohot pyaar se baat karte the. Woh alag nhi samajhe. Hamesha zameen se Jude hue the. Unka yahi ek gun sabko bhaata tha. Aise the Dharam Ji."

She further spoke about their association since 57 years and how Dharmendra always supported her and their two daughters, Esha and Ahana. "Will miss his quite support, his love, his hug everything I'll miss. It's difficult but we have to go through life. We really miss him we don't know how to express it."

Further she also spoke about how as an actor he performed with a lot of dedication and passion for acting. "Unhone bohot aise perform bohot fimlon mein kiya jo bohot logon ko bhaya aur unke dil ko Chua."

She also recalled Dharmendra's help towards her political career as an MP. She also reflected on how he also loved helping others. "He was not meant for politics but he definitely did a good job. He did everything he could."

Given Dharmendra’s towering legacy and the vast number of people he collaborated with over his remarkable six-decade career, several actors and politicians attended the prayer meet.
