The Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) has issued a fresh summons to rapper-singer Badshah in connection with the controversy surrounding his Haryanvi song Tateeree.
The track has been under scrutiny for allegedly containing objectionable lyrics related to women and minors, which triggered widespread criticism soon after its release.
According to officials, the commission sent the new notice after the singer failed to appear before it earlier. The notice directs him to appear in person and clarify the intent behind the lyrics used in the song.
The matter is scheduled to be heard on March 13 at the DC Office in Panipat, where HSCW chairperson Renu Bhatia will preside over the hearing.
The controversy began earlier this month shortly after the song was released. Several social groups and activists raised concerns, claiming that the lyrics and visuals in the music video objectify women and include references that appear to sexualise school-going girls.

Multiple local organisations, including Nari Tu Narayani Utthan Samiti and Shiv Aarti India Foundation, lodged formal complaints against the singer as well as the makers of the music video. The groups urged authorities to take strict action over what they described as objectionable content.
Amid the backlash, Badshah later issued a public apology and confirmed that the song had been removed from all platforms. The rapper addressed the controversy through a video message shared on his Instagram account on Saturday.
"My new song has released and I am seeing that the lyrics and the visual representation has caused a lot of people, especially from Haryana, a lot of hurt. Firstly, I want to say that I am from Haryana. Those who know me will vouch for the fact that my entire identity rests on it. I am a proud Haryanvi," he is heard saying in the video.
The singer also clarified that the intention behind the song was never to offend anyone. He emphasised that he has always aimed to promote the culture of Haryana and expressed regret over the reaction the track has received.
"I never had the intention or the aim to speak of any women or children of Haryana in this manner. I am from the hip hop genre so the lyrics are often added on to show the competition down, for the competitor. This was never meant for the women or the kids.
Meanwhile, the Haryana Police has also registered an FIR regarding the alleged objectionable lyrics and visuals in the music video.
Authorities have said that the commission will examine the complaints in detail along with Badshah’s explanation during the upcoming hearing. Based on the findings and discussions at the session, the commission will decide on the next course of action in the matter.
