Actress Anne Hathaway returned to the 98th Academy Awards to present an award to  Frankenstein Costume Designer Kate Hawley and hair and makeup artists Mike Hill, Cliona Furey, Jordan Samuel, and Megan Many.

The actress presented the award with the real-life fashion icon Anna Wintour.

While presenting the award, Anna has her ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ moment.

Hathaway and Wintour’s joint appearance at the Oscars 2026 coincides with the 20th anniversary of The Devil Wears Prada, which was released in 2006, and an upcoming sequel.

Hathaway said before presenting the award, “Whether it's two distinct jewel-toned hats, a meticulously crafted headdress, a simple pair of semi-rimless eyeglasses, complex and dramatic pieces that bring to life a goth classic or watching red turn rust in 16th-century England. A character's costume is key to telling a story."

Hathaway, who portrays journalist-turned-fashion assistant Andy Sachs, asked Wintour for wardrobe guidance. It has long been thought that Wintour served as an inspiration for Andy’s boss Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly.

Hathaway gets visibly anxious and added, "One could argue that one's wardrobe in real life is also key. Does it make one appear elegant and attractive on, say, the most important night in Hollywood when, say, the most important people in fashion will be judging how one looks?"

She added, "Anna, just curious, what do you think of my dress tonight?"

Hathaway's question was completely ignored by Wintour, who had discreetly placed on her famous black sunglasses, implying that she didn't like the actress' Oscars ensemble.

The award eventually went to Frankenstein costume designer Kate Hawley.

For the Oscars 2026, Hathaway looked stunning in a strapless Valentino gown that featured a bouquet of champagne florals cascading down the black fabric. A broad black belt secured the waist of the dress, which had a trumpet-shaped form.
