Veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has weighed in on the growing buzz around two of Bollywood’s most anticipated films of 2026 — Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge and Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. After the teaser for Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh, was released on February 3, RGV shared his reaction on social media, lavishing praise on the teaser while seemingly implying that Toxic might struggle in comparison.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), RGV reposted the Dhurandhar 2 teaser from director Aditya Dhar’s account and wrote, “This is not REVENGE, it’s @AdityaDharFilms RAMPAGE.. I pity the ones who will come in its way. R I P.”
Although he didn’t mention Toxic by name, the timing and tone of his comment led many fans to interpret it as a direct reference to Yash’s highly anticipated film, which is set to release on the same date as Dhurandhar 2 — March 19, 2026.

The remark quickly sparked responses on social media, with viewers chiming in to suggest that Varma was indirectly commenting on the Toxic teaser and its ability to compete with Dhurandhar 2. One fan even wrote back, “Write directly na… RIP Toxic,” while others suggested RGV’s declaration was about which film might dominate the box office when both hit theatres on Eid and festival weekend.
This isn’t the first time RGV has publicly discussed the impending clash between the two films. Earlier statements from him framed the head-to-head release as a symbolic battle between stylistic spectacle and grounded action cinema, dubbing the competition “#Dhuroxic” and suggesting it could be a defining moment for contemporary Indian film audiences.
