  • Ranveer Singh reprises role as Indian spy in action sequel

Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar: The Revenge is creating more buzz around moviegoers as only eight days are left for its release.

The film’s paid preview shows, scheduled a day before its official release, are witnessing massive demand across theatres, even though ticket prices are significantly higher than usual.

Headlined by Ranveer Singh, the action-packed sequel will have special paid preview screenings in select theatres on March 18, ahead of its full nationwide release on 19 March.

Many cinema halls have lined up evening shows starting around 4 pm and 5 pm, and several multiplexes have added multiple screenings due to the increasing demand.

But other than the growing demand, fans of the film are also surprised by the steep pricing of these early tickets. In major metro cities, regular-format tickets for the preview shows are reportedly being sold between Rs 600 and Rs 900. Premium formats have pushed prices even further.

IMAX screenings in some locations have crossed Rs 1,000, while luxury recliner seats in premium auditoriums have reached eye-catching figures.

At the INOX Megaplex in Borivali, Mumbai, recliner seats for the preview are currently priced at Rs 3,100, making them among the most expensive tickets for the film so far. In Delhi, premium recliner seats at PVR Select City Walk are reportedly priced at around Rs 2,400.

Even with such high prices, many of the shows are already sold out or are almost close to the capacity, clearly showing the film’s strong anticipation.

According to many industry trackers, the average ticket price for the Hindi version of the film currently stands at roughly Rs 418.

Premium formats like Dolby Cine are sold at even higher prices, averaging around Rs 759.

Not just this, dubbed versions are also seeing strong interests like the Kannada version has an average price of about Rs 445, while the Telugu version is around Rs 230.

Due to price regulations being more relaxed in Tamil Nadu than in other parts of India (including big cities), the average ticket price for Tamil dubbed shows is around Rs 166.

The strong demand has translated into impressive advance booking numbers as well. Nearly three lakh tickets have already been sold across India even before the preview shows begin, with domestic pre-sales crossing Rs 15 crore.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film once again features Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy on a high-stakes mission in Pakistan. The cast also includes R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun in important roles.

The first film in the franchise was a huge commercial success, reportedly earning around Rs 1,300 crore worldwide. With advance bookings already breaking records and excitement continuing to grow, many believe the sequel could open to an even bigger box office response.
