Veteran actor Dharmendra passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 89. The iconic star reportedly died at his Mumbai residence following age-related ailments and heart complications, after battling health issues for an extended period. Following his demise, a major question circulating among fans has been whether his children with his second wife, Hema Malini, will be entitled to inherit his massive fortune.
Dharmendra's wealth, which includes his opulent Mumbai bungalow, a vast 100-acre farmhouse in Lonavala, and a chain of restaurants throughout India, is estimated to be between Rs 400 and Rs 450 crore.
The Sholay actor raised two families over the years: one with his first wife, Prakash Kaur, and their sons, Bobby and Sunny Deol; another with his second wife, Hema Malini, and their daughters, Ahana and Esha Deol. Naturally, this dual family structure has raised questions about how his wealth will be distributed legally.
Delhi High Court advocate Kamlesh Kumar Mishra recently clarified the legal framework surrounding Dharmendra’s inheritance. Speaking to ABP News, he explained that all six of Dharmendra’s children, including Esha and Ahana, are entitled to inherit his money and properties under Indian inheritance law. As per the law, every legal heir has a right to their parents’ assets unless a will explicitly excludes them.
Hema Malini's rights as a spouse were also discussed. Since Dharmendra never divorced his first wife, Prakash Kaur, his marriage to Hema Malini may be deemed legally void under Hindu law. Hema may find it difficult to get a portion of his wealth as a result.
According to several reports, Dharmendra and Hema converted to Islam in order to get married; if this were the case, Hema would not be subject to Hindu inheritance laws and might be entitled to a share under other legal provisions. Dharmendra and Hema, however, have both denied ever converting.
Esha Deol and Ahana Deol are still fully qualified to claim their legitimate portions of their father's estate, regardless of Hema Malini's legal marital status.
Meanwhile, in an interview with HerZindagiBuzz, Dharmendra’s youngest daughter Ahana Deol shared a touching personal wish regarding inheritance. She expressed her desire to keep her father’s vintage Fiat, saying, "I would love to inherit my father's first car, his Fiat. That car is so cute and vintage, and I am sure he has countless memories attached to it. It is just something I would love to have as mine."
For Ahana, the emotional value of this nostalgic possession far outweighs any material asset, as it carries cherished memories of her childhood with her father.
