Dharmendra’s prayer meet in Mumbai turned into a quiet, dignified celebration of the legendary actor’s life, with a musical tribute becoming the emotional centrepiece of the evening. Held at Seaside Lawns, Taj Lands End in Bandra, the ceremony was titled Celebration of Life and brought together family, friends, and colleagues who had shared decades of memories with the late star.
According to an ANI report, a group of artists performed a special musical tribute to honour Dharmendra’s journey on and off screen. The performance was designed to reflect the warmth, heroism, and charm that defined his career, and the atmosphere shifted between remembrance and gratitude. Members of the Deol family, including Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Karan Deol, stood together throughout the ceremony, thanking attendees with folded hands as they received an overwhelming outpouring of support.
The guest list reflected the immense influence Dharmendra had across generations. Salman Khan, Rekha, Shabana Azmi, Maniesh Paul, Ananya Birla, Nimrat Kaur, and Pooja Hegde were among those who arrived to pay their respects. Their presence underscored the collective grief felt across the film industry, where Dharmendra remained a towering figure for more than six decades.
Dharmendra’s final rites had earlier been performed at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle. Several major stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Govinda, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone, were seen at the crematorium to offer condolences to the Deol family. Other prominent personalities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Saira Banu, Abhishek Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salim Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Zayed Khan, Rajkumar Santoshi, Anil Sharma, and Siddharth Roy Kapur also marked their presence.
Dharmendra leaves behind a large and closely knit family. He is survived by his first wife, Prakash Kaur, and his second wife, actor Hema Malini. His children include Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta and Ajeita from his first marriage, and Esha Deol and Ahana Deol from his second.
Through films like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Ayee Milan Ki Bela, and Anupama, Dharmendra shaped an era of Hindi cinema. The prayer meet, anchored by music and memory, reflected the love he continues to command even in his absence.
