Anupam Kher joins Prabhas-starrer ‘Fauzi’, makers announce on his 71st birthday

Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has officially joined the cast of the upcoming film Fauzi, which stars Prabhas in the lead role.

The film is directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and produced under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers. Set in the 1940s, the story revolves around a soldier who is part of the historic Azad Hind Fauj, promising to explore lesser-known chapters of India’s past.

The production house shared the update on its official X handle on Saturday, which also coincided with Kher’s 71st birthday. Announcing the actor’s inclusion in the project, the makers wrote, "Wishing the phenomenal. @AnupamPKher Ji a very Happy Birthday. It is an absolute honour to have you as part of the #Fauzi battalion. Wishing you a happy and a healthy year ahead."

The ambitious project is planned as a two-part series, with the second instalment reportedly serving as a prequel to the first film.

Earlier, on the occasion of Prabhas’ birthday in October 2025, the makers had unveiled the first-look poster from the film while also introducing his character. Sharing the poster online, they wrote, "#PrabhasHanu is #FAUZI - the bravest tale of a soldier from the hidden chapters of our history. Happy Birthday, Rebel Star."

Speaking recently on a special occasion, Anupam Kher also reflected on the importance of women and their contributions to society. The Saaransh actor highlighted how women play an invaluable role in shaping families, communities and the larger social fabric. Emphasising the strength that comes with the ability to create life, he described it as the “greatest” power and said women deserve to be celebrated not just on a single day, but throughout the year.

The film is directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Y. Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers. The music for the film has been composed by Vishal Chandrashekhar, while cinematography is handled by Sudeep Chatterjee.

On the work front, Anupam Kher was last seen in Tanvi The Great, which also marked his return to direction. The film released in July 2025 and featured Shubhangi Dutt alongside the veteran actor.

Looking ahead, Kher will next be seen in Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 alongside Boman Irani and Ranvir Shorey. The film is a sequel to the 2006 cult favourite with the same title and will also mark the milestone of being the 550th film in Kher’s illustrious career.
