Bollywood icons Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt recently came together for the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan 2026, a nationwide campaign encouraging responsible road behaviour and timely help for accident victims.

Sharing his reflections, Amitabh Bachchan took to his blog to recount a moving conversation he had on stage with Alia Bhatt and a mother who had tragically lost her son in a road accident.

The actor highlighted how public policy has evolved to address a long-standing fear—that bystanders often hesitate to help due to worries about police inquiries. “The campaign actively encourages passersby to help victims without fear of harassment and even rewards such acts as a gesture of gratitude from the Government of India,” he wrote.

The story of the woman dressed in yellow struck a deep chord. She spoke of the unbearable grief of seeing no one step forward to assist her injured son and learning at the hospital that timely help might have saved him.

Amitabh described her as courageous, for turning her personal tragedy into a call for change: urging people to act with compassion and urgency—“without anger or blame, only hope for change.”

Alia Bhatt herself could not hold back her emotions. Amitabh recalled, “As a mother herself to a three-year-old daughter, Raha, Alia struggled to continue, her reaction underscoring the human weight of the issue.”

Her empathy and visible emotion reminded everyone that road safety is not just a matter of rules, but of real lives and real families.

Amitabh suggested that this story could serve as the heart of the campaign—prompting people to imagine themselves in such a moment and inspire timely action.

Away from advocacy, Alia Bhatt has a busy slate ahead. She will be seen in a high-energy action role in Alpha, alongside Sharvari and Bobby Deol, and is also collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, set for a 2026 release.

The Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan 2026 became more than just an awareness campaign—it was a reminder that empathy, courage, and quick action can save lives.
