Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel is the latest celebrity who has landed in legal trouble. A court in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, has now issued a non-bailable warrant against the actress. She has been accused of fraud since the case began in 2017.
According to Times of India, Ameesha Patel has allegedly neglected to show up for court appearances in violation of court orders. The court has now taken strict action and issued a non-bailable warrant against her.
The actress reportedly received Rs 14.5 lakh in 2017 for performing at a wedding. She allegedly accepted the money but did not go to the event.
Pawan Kumar Verma, a resident of Moradabad and the owner of Dream Vision, an event management company, lodged a complaint against Ameesha Patel. Ameesha received an invitation to perform at a wedding in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, according to the complainant.
Pawan allegedly consented to Ameesha's original demand of Rs 11 lakh as an advance payment. Ameesha allegedly arrived in Delhi during the wedding and demanded an extra Rs 2 lakh to get to the location. The actress allegedly returned without telling anyone after Pawan Kumar refused to pay the additional sum.

According to Pawan Kumar, Ameesha failed to reimburse the Rs 11 lakh amount. In addition to Patel, the complaint has brought legal action against Ahmed Sharif, Rajkumar Goswami, and Suresh Kumar.
Sections 120B, 406, 504, 420, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code are among the sections under which the actress has been charged.
Ameesha is accused of issuing a 2 lakh cheque that subsequently bounced. In 2026, the court had mandated her in-person appearance.

She was embroiled in a similar scenario in 2018 when a producer from Jharkhand committed Rs 2.5 crore in her unfinished film, Desi Magic. The matter was concluded in 2024 when Patel paid back the full Rs 2.5 crore.
This came after Rajpal Yadav surrendered himself in Tihar jail in a Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case. He was recently granted interim bail.
