Yash Raj Films’ highly anticipated spy thriller Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, has been postponed for the second time, with the makers opting to avoid a direct box office clash with Salman Khan’s forthcoming war drama Battle of Galwan.
Earlier this month, Alpha — part of the YRF Spy Universe — was slated to hit theatres on 17 April 2026 after being previously delayed from its original Christmas 2025 date to allow for extensive post-production and visual effects work. However, Taran Adarsh shared on X that YRF has decided to vacate the April slot after learning that Battle of Galwan, starring Salman Khan, is also targeting a similar release window.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha marks a significant chapter in the YRF Spy Universe as the first female-led action thriller in the franchise. Apart from Alia and Sharvari, the film also features actors Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in central roles, promising high-voltage action and drama. The franchise has previously delivered hits such as Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War and Pathaan.
While Alpha’s new date remains undetermined, industry watchers say the decision reflects a broader strategy in Bollywood where studios avoid head-on clashes between major films to maximize box office potential. Battle of Galwan — directed by Apoorva Lakhia — is based on the real-life 2020 India-China Galwan Valley conflict and has already stirred excitement with its patriotic theme and Salman Khan’s presence.

Fans eagerly await confirmation of Alpha’s updated release date, hoping for a 2026 theatrical launch that complements the star-studded spy action spectacle.
