Fans of Akshay Kumar have reason to rejoice as the release date of his upcoming horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla has been moved up.
Originally scheduled for May 2026, the film will now arrive in theatres on April 10, 2026, giving audiences a few weeks of early access to what promises to be a fun and spooky ride.
Directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R Kapoor under Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Cape of Good Films, the film has already sparked plenty of excitement.
The announcement was made in a playful way by Akshay Kumar on his X account. A black cat scratches at a table calendar open to May, knocking it down and spilling milk over the April page before licking the date 10, revealing the new release day. Akshay Kumar captioned it, “Bhooth Bangla ka countdown rewind! 15 May 10 April Milte hain theatres mein (See you in theatres).”
Producer Ektaa Kapoor shared her own excitement on X, writing, “Nagin ke baad ‘bhoot’ ……. Bangla apna darwaza jaldi kholega !!! 15 saal ka intezar …is jodi Jo dekhne ke liye (After Naagin, Bhoot will open the gates very soon! It has been a long wait of 15 years to see this pair).”
The makers explained the reason for bringing the release forward: “With the shift in its release date, the makers aim to tap into a favourable theatrical window while avoiding box office congestion. In line with this approach, Akshay Kumar has ensured that each of his films receives a fair theatrical run, allowing audiences ample time to fully engage with its box office journey.”
This year is already shaping up to be a busy one for Akshay Kumar, with Welcome to the Jungle, Hera Pheri 3, and Haiwaan also set for theatrical releases.
Bhooth Bangla features a stellar ensemble cast including Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Shot across Rajasthan, Jaipur, and Hyderabad, filming wrapped in May last year, which Akshay Kumar confirmed with a behind-the-scenes video from the set.
