AICWA slams repeated safety lapses by Dhurandhar 2 crew and production house amid the BMC blacklisting proposal

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has moved to blacklist Aditya Dhar’s production banner, B62 Studios, because civic authorities say the Dhurandhar 2 shoot repeatedly violated safety and regulatory norms during filming in Mumbai. AICWA also expressed support for the BMC’s action against B62 Studios, saying strong measures are necessary because no production house should be above the law.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken strict action against director Aditya Dhar’s production company, B62 Studios, proposing its blacklisting from applying for future filming permissions in Mumbai after repeated safety and regulatory violations during the shoot of Dhurandhar 2.

The film — starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Danish Pandor and Sara Arjun — is scheduled for release on March 19, 2026.

In response to the developments, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) issued a strong statement condemning the alleged safety lapses during the shoot.

AICWA president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta called the violations “alarming” and urged stricter accountability, emphasising that “the life, safety, and dignity of film industry workers, technicians, and labourers cannot be compromised under any circumstances.”

The association backed the BMC’s decision and called for robust enforcement of safety rules to protect crew members and technicians from avoidable risks.

According to civic officials, the action comes after several alleged breaches of safety norms on set, including the use of flammable materials without proper fire department clearances, filming at an unauthorised rooftop location, and operating generator vans without requisite permits. In some cases, police intervened and seized equipment, including lit torches, after residents and authorities raised concerns about public safety.

The BMC also moved to forfeit the Rs 25,000 security deposit submitted for permits and has proposed a Rs 1 lakh penalty against the production house.

The proposed blacklist — if fully ratified — would bar B62 Studios and associated applicants from applying for shooting permissions via the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation’s online portal, a serious setback for any production company wanting to shoot in Mumbai.

Dhurandhar 2 team has not publicly responded to the controversy, and production is expected to continue while adhering to the clarified safety requirements.
