Ahaan Shetty, who grew up witnessing his father, Suniel Shetty, become inextricably linked to the famous patriotic anthem Sandese Aate Hain from Border (1997),has said that being a part of Border 2, particularly the song Ghar Kab Aaoge, has brought back a lifetime of emotions.
Ahan Shetty saw as a young child how profoundly that song struck a chord with listeners, how it touched people of all ages, and how it came to represent love and sacrifice for the country.
Today, standing on the set of Border 2, he finds himself living a moment he never imagined — stepping into a space once occupied by his father, yet carrying his own emotions and identity into it.
Sharing this deeply personal experience on social media, Ahan Shetty posted a photograph with Suniel Shetty, the two holding the film’s clapboard. The image quietly spoke volumes, and his words reflected just how overwhelmed he felt.
“They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I don’t have the words for this. I only know what I feel,” he wrote. Looking back at the journey that led him here, he added, “I grew up watching my father be part of Sandese Aate Hains. Today, I find myself a part of Ghar Kab Aaoge.”
He went on to explain that some moments are too profound to analyse or articulate. “Somewhere between then and now, life quietly came full circle,” Ahan Shetty shared, describing the experience as one of calm fulfilment rather than celebration, and of gratitude that will stay with him for life.
For Ahan Shetty, Ghar Kab Aaoge is not merely a song in a war film. It represents the unsaid — the emotions of soldiers standing far from home and the silent prayers of families waiting for their return. “This isn’t about a song or a project. It’s about time, love and a quiet gratitude. I’ll carry it with me forever,” he wrote, signing off with, “Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.”
The original Sandese Aate Hain, sung by Sonu Nigam and Roopkumar Rathod with lyrics by Javed Akhtar, remains one of Hindi cinema’s most cherished patriotic songs, with Suniel Shetty’s role continuing to hold a special place in public memory.
Set to release on January 23, 2026, Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, brings together Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa and Anya Singh.
