Ahan Shetty reveals father Suniel Shetty’s advice for Border 2: "Don’t compare it to Border 1"

While preparing for the film, he shared that Suniel Shetty offered him simple yet grounding advice.

The much-anticipated teaser of Border 2 was unveiled on December 16 at a special launch event. During the occasion, actor Ahan Shetty spoke candidly about the pressure of being part of a film with such a strong legacy and revealed how he chose to deal with it, guided by advice from his father, Suniel Shetty.

Ahan acknowledged that Border 2 carries a rich cinematic history. While preparing for the film, he shared that Suniel Shetty offered him simple yet grounding advice.

Recalling their conversation, Ahan said, “Just be honest, just be yourself. Go out there, enjoy yourself. Don’t think about what people have to say and don’t compare it to Border 1, that was the most important.”

Suniel Shetty's personal perspective on classic movies and the obligations that accompany their association is reflected in the counsel. As one of the most cherished patriotic movies in Indian cinema history, the sequel to the original Border inevitably raises expectations and draws comparisons.

Ahan made it apparent, though, that he did not want the original movie's legacy to burden him. Rather, he made the decision to remain in the present and follow his acting instincts.

In the teaser, Ahan comes across as raw and intense, totally absorbed in the action, rather than relying on familiarity or nostalgia. His on-screen persona portrays an actor dedicated to earning his role in the story rather than depending on the past.

For Ahan, Border 2 is not about recreating what came before, but about respecting the emotion of the original while carving out his own identity within the story.

The teaser was launched at a special event in Mumbai, which was attended by Sunny Deol along with co-stars Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty.

Border 2 was officially announced on June 13, 2024, marking 27 years of the original cult classic. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film sees Sunny Deol return to the iconic franchise, with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty playing pivotal roles.

Border 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on January 23, 2026.
