Bollywood actor and Savdhaan India fame Sushant Singh recently found himself speaking up not as a public figure, but as a resident simply asking for some peace and quiet in his own home.
Living in Mumbai’s Amboli area, the actor flagged an ongoing noise problem caused by a nearby rooftop eatery that, according to him, had been blasting loud music late into the night for several days in a row.
Frustrated by the disturbance, Sushant Singh decided to raise the issue publicly and tag Mumbai Police on social media, hoping for clarity on whether such noise levels were legally permitted after 10 pm.
To show exactly what he was dealing with, the actor shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) that he recorded at 10:40 pm from inside his residence.
The clip reportedly captured loud music coming from the neighbouring rooftop restaurant, despite night-time restrictions on amplified sound. Even while posting the video, Sushant Singh said the noise had not stopped.
In his tweet, he wrote, “Dear @MumbaiPolice this rooftop restaurant Trove9 next to my residential building has been blaring loud music for the last few nights past 10 PM. Is this legal? This video was recorded at 10:40 PM and the noise is still on at the time of posting this tweet."
Mumbai Police responded to the post through their official X handle, confirming that the complaint had been forwarded to Amboli Police Station for appropriate action. The swift acknowledgement reassured many that the issue was being looked into at the ground level.
The incident struck a chord with social media users, many of whom came out in support of Sushant Singh and used the moment to highlight existing noise pollution laws.
One user urged the authorities to act promptly, stating, “MumbaiPolice @CPMumbaiPolice. Kindly look at this immediately, Loud music is a punishable offense in India. Using loudspeakers is prohibited from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m."

Another user referred to a recent court ruling, emphasising residents’ right to peace at night. They wrote, “Playing loud music beyond 10 PM violates noise regulations and residents’ right to peace. The Bombay High Court in Jaago Nehru Nagar Residents Welfare Association v. Commissioner of Police (2025) has clearly prohibited such acts. Bars must comply with the law and respect neighbourhood harmony."
Away from the noise complaint, Sushant Singh has built a respected career in Indian cinema, with performances in films such as Satya, Jungle, Company, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Kai Po Che! and Lakshya.
