Ranveer Singh-Akshaye Khanna spy-thriller Dhurandhar recently entered the Rs 1000 crore club last week. The Dhurandhar fever continues to rule the box office and becomes the biggest movie of 2025.
Alongside regional titans RRR and Baahubali, Dhurandhar stands among the major leagues. They are not, however, the biggest movie ever made in India. It's not even starring Shah Rukh Khan, a legendary figure in Bollywood.
According to Sacnilk, Aamir Khan's Dangal is India's biggest blockbuster. In addition to being a biopic with a global box office total of more than Rs 2000 crore, Dangal was a cultural phenomenon that impacted social media, memes, and Bollywood in general.
Oscar-winning RRR and cult favourite Baahubali were unable to bag the spot surrounding Dangal's unparalleled box office record from 2016. According to reports, Dangal's undefeated performance was aided by China's erratic box office surge.
The trade website disclosed that it made Rs 2009 crore throughout its theatrical run, while Aamir Khan refused to disclose the precise amount. The film was released for Christmas in 2016 for Indian audiences, but its May 2027 release sparked a global craze. For several months, "Shuai Jiao Baba" was China's most popular foreign film.
Dangal made around Rs 1000 crore from China and Rs 387 crore from India. Fans were captivated by the highly captivating fight, the famous social message, and Aamir Khan's star status.
Following the cult hit 3 Idiots starring Aamir Khan, Dangal created its own buzz. Dangal made waves at the international box office due to a number of factors, including intense promotions and an energetic tour of China. The Avengers and Jurassic World, two of Hollywood's biggest franchises, were defeated by it on Indian screens.

Dangal notably bagged the top spot since 2016, while Baahubali 2: The Conclusion came in second with a box office record of Rs 1788 crore. Ram Charan's RRR was eclipsed by Allu Arjun's Pushpa: The Rule Part 2 by more than Rs 500 crore.
Pushpa 2 came very close to second place with a total of Rs 1742 crore, while the Prabhas-Ram Charan Oscar winner earned Rs 1230 crore during its theatrical run.
