Kannada actor Mayur Patel has been booked for drunk driving and reckless endangerment following a late-night multi-vehicle collision in Bengaluru. The incident took place around midnight near the Command Hospital signal on Old Airport Road, a busy stretch known for late-night traffic movement.

According to the Halasuru Traffic Police, Mayur Patel was driving a Toyota Fortuner at high speed when he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a line of cars that were stationary at the traffic signal.

The impact of the crash led to a chain collision, damaging at least three vehicles, including two Swift Dzires and a government-registered car. No fatalities were reported, but the accident caused panic and traffic disruption in the area.

Police officials said that Hoysala patrolling teams rushed to the spot after receiving an alert from the control room. Mayur Patel was detained at the scene and later taken to the police station for further questioning. A breathalyser test conducted there reportedly confirmed that his blood alcohol level was well above the permissible legal limit.

During the investigation, authorities also found that the actor’s SUV was being driven without valid insurance. Following this, the vehicle was seized as part of the legal process. A senior police officer stated that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act for drunk driving, overspeeding, and endangering public safety. Further legal proceedings are currently underway.

One of the victims, identified as Srinivas, whose car suffered significant damage, has filed a formal complaint. Recounting the incident, he said he was waiting at the signal when a sudden and forceful impact from behind pushed his vehicle into the car ahead. He described the moment as chaotic and frightening, adding that the damage to his car was extensive.

Mayur Patel is known for his work in Kannada films such as Mani, Udees, and Gunna. He has also appeared as a contestant on Bigg Boss Kannada, which brought him wider public recognition. In recent years, however, the actor has largely stayed away from the limelight, making this incident a sudden return to public attention for the wrong reasons.

Police officials have reiterated that strict action will be taken irrespective of a person’s celebrity status. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected once the legal process moves ahead.
