Popular television actor Arjun Bijlani stood firmly by his wife Neha Swami as they attended the prayer meet of her father, Rakesh Chandra Swami, in Mumbai. The gathering was marked by quiet grief and subdued emotion, with Arjun seen holding Neha’s hand, offering silent strength as she mourned the loss of her father.
The prayer meet took place days after the family suffered a sudden tragedy. For those unaware, Arjun and Neha were in Dubai with their son Ayaan to ring in the New Year when Neha’s father’s health unexpectedly deteriorated. The couple immediately rushed back to Mumbai after learning about the medical emergency. Rakesh Chandra Swami passed away on January 1, leaving the family devastated.
At the prayer meet, several close friends from the television industry arrived to pay their last respects and extend condolences to the grieving family. Among those present were Mouni Roy, a long-time friend of the couple, and Ankita Lokhande, who attended along with her husband Vicky Jain. Their presence reflected the strong personal bonds Arjun and Neha share within the industry.

Arjun and Neha maintained a low profile throughout the gathering, choosing to focus on prayers and rituals rather than public interactions. When they briefly acknowledged the media, the couple greeted photographers with folded hands before quietly leaving the venue. Friends and colleagues were seen offering emotional support, standing close to Neha as she navigated an especially difficult moment.
Rakesh Chandra Swami, aged 73, passed away after a brief but critical battle in the ICU. According to family members, the health crisis came as a complete shock. He was reportedly fit and fine and was about to sit down for dinner on Monday evening when he suddenly suffered a stroke. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital and placed on a ventilator immediately. Despite sustained medical efforts, he passed away a few days later. He is survived by his son Nishank and daughter Neha.
Earlier, Arjun Bijlani was seen at the cremation ground consoling his young son Ayaan, while Neha appeared visibly shattered by the loss. Close family friend Nia Sharma also arrived at the crematorium to stand by the family during the final rites.
A family member shared that the loss has been especially difficult because it was entirely unexpected. “The entire family is in shock, as Neha and Arjun had met the family before flying off. It was a sudden shock, and we are all still grappling with the situation,” the family member told HT. Arjun and Neha returned to Mumbai on Tuesday and stayed by Rakesh’s side at the hospital until his final moments, offering prayers and support through the painful days.
