Abhijeet Bhattacharya has sparked another controversy with his statement regarding Mahatma Gandhi, in which he referred to the Indian freedom fighter as the "Father of Pakistan." During an interaction with journalist Shubhankar Mishra on his podcast, Abhijeet discussed music composer RD Burman, popularly known as Pancham Da. He made a comparison that surprised many listeners. "Pancham Da was bigger than Mahatma Gandhi. Like Mahatma Gandhi was the father of the nation, Pancham Da was the father of the nation in the world of music," he said.

He then went further, stating, "Mahatma Gandhi was not the father of the nation of India, but he was Pakistan's Father of India. Pancham Da (RD Burman) was bigger than Mahatma Gandhi; he was the Rashtrapita of music. Mahatma Gandhi was the Father of the Nation for Pakistan, not for India. India was always there. Pakistan was created. By mistake, Mahatma Gandhi was called the Father of Our Nation."

In the same interview, Abhijeet made several indirect but scathing remarks about Salman Khan. The singer's frustration was palpable as he revisited his past comments, notably the famous line, "Salman duaon pe chalta hai" (Salman's career is due to blessings). When asked about his support for Khan during his hit-and-run case, Abhijeet responded with irritation, "Maine kaha ye jo hota hai...road par soyenge to ek daarubaaz aayega daaru pike gaadi chadha dega tumhare upar. Road par kutte ki tarah so rahe ho. To ek daarubaaz aayega, ek tharki, ab kyu merese wo repeat karwa rahe ho...”
