Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan's most recent film, has achieved a touching milestone by being the first to be shown at the highest altitude theatre in the world, located in Ladakh.

With its impressive 11,562-foot height, Picturetime's mobile digital theatre hosted a special screening of the comedy-drama, bringing cinema to one of India's most isolated and underprivileged areas.

Seven autistic children, eighteen parents, and four employees from Dr. Daichin's Hopeful Steps Clinic made up the small but special audience for the Saturday night screening. An unforgettable experience was provided by the distinctive outdoor theatre set against the breathtaking scenery of Ladakh.

While the kids were enthralled with the humour and enthusiasm of the movie, their parents were moved by the happiness on their kids' faces, which is a unique chance in an area where mainstream entertainment is still mostly out of reach.

The idea aligns with Aamir Khan’s recent call for Indian cinema to become more inclusive and geographically accessible. His thoughts, expressed during the Waves Summit, emphasised the emotional impact of storytelling and its power to connect communities regardless of location. Those sentiments clearly resonated with Picturetime’s mission.

Sushil Chaudhary, the Founder and CEO of Picturetime, said, “During the Waves Summit, Aamir Khan had spoken about the deep emotional power of cinema and how it must be accessible to every Indian — regardless of geography or circumstance. At Picturetime, that sentiment always stayed with us. Today, screening Sitaare Zameen Par at the world’s highest altitude theatre, for children with autism and their parents, is not just a show — it’s a moment of quiet fulfilment for what we believe cinema can and should do.”

Dr Daichin’s Hopeful Steps Clinic played a key role in organising the event. Chaudhary added, “To witness these children experience the magic of storytelling, in a space created just for them, is exactly the kind of purpose we envisioned when we built Picturetime.”

The film, directed by RS Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, sees Aamir Khan portraying a suspended basketball coach who is assigned to mentor a team of children with disabilities as part of his community service. It’s a spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par and has proven to be one of 2025’s most significant cinematic successes — both commercially and emotionally.

Alongside Genelia D’Souza, the cast features ten newcomers, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
