On February 6, representatives from Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) met Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his official residence. The discussion reportedly focused around the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
MNS chief Raj Thackeray has assigned party leaders including Bala Nandgaonkar, Sandip Deshpande and Nitin Sardesai to explore potential seat-sharing arrangements, News18 reported citing sources.
However, specific details regarding seat-sharing and alliance has not been disclosed. BJP, on the other hand, has denied any such talks.
The Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly polls are due this year. Maharashtra has 48 Lok Sabha seats, the second-highest number after 80 in Uttar Pradesh. The state has 288 assembly constituencies.
The ruling Mahayuti alliance comprises the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction).
