Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu said that his party, the BJP and Jana Sena Party have finalised an alliance for Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh Assembly polls, news agency PTI reported.
"Andhra Pradesh has been destroyed badly. The BJP and the TDP coming together is a win-win situation for the country and the state," the report quoted Naidu as saying.
He expressed confidence that the alliance will sweep the polls in Andhra Pradesh.
The announcement came after the three parties held second round of talks involving their senior leaders on March 9.
The TDP is expected to contest on 17 Lok Sabha seats and 145 Assembly seats, the PTI report quoted sources as saying. The BJP may contest around six Lok Sabha and an equal number of Assembly seats in the southern state, the sources said.
Andhra Pradesh has 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats.
The deal was clinched at the second round of talks involving TDP supremo Naidu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president J P Nadda and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan.
The Lok Sabha and Assembly polls will be held simultaneously in Andhra Pradesh, which are expected to happen in April-May this year.
