Voters in Maharashtra are all set to elect their representatives for the Vidhan Sabha on 20 November after a dramatic last five years in which new coalitions and parties were split in the state. All the parties are contesting in alliance this Assembly with 'Maha Vikas Agadhi'(Shiv Sena UBT, NCP(SP) and Congress) on one side and 'Mahayuti'(BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP) on another side will look to get on the winning side in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections when the results will be declared on 23 November.

Constituency watch: Vikhroli

Vikhroli is located in Maharashtra's Mumbai(Suburban) district and has constituency number 156. The seat falls under the unreserved category. Polling in the Vikhroli seat will occur on 20 November, as polls in Maharashtra will occur in a single phase. The counting of votes for Vikhroli will take place on 23 November.

Key Candidates

Sunil Raut is running as the Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate for the Vikhroli assembly constituency, a seat he previously won in the 2014 and 2019 elections. This time, he is contesting against Suvarna Karanje from the Shiv Sena party and Vishwajeet Dholam from the MNS.Who won in the 2019 Assembly Elections?

In the 2019 Assembly elections, the Vikhroli seat was won by the then Shiv Sena candidate Raut Sunil Rajaram with a margin of 27,841 votes. The constituency witnessed a turnout of 55 % in the last assembly elections.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting for all 288 constituencies set for November 23. In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42.

While the Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) and Thackeray's party are part of the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, which has the Congress as its third important player, the NCP and Shiv Sena are allied with the BJP-led ruling Mahayuti.
