Voters in Maharashtra are all set to elect their representatives for the Vidhan Sabha on 20 November after a dramatic last five years in which new coalitions and parties were split in the state. All the parties are contesting in alliance this Assembly with 'Maha Vikas Agadhi'(Shiv Sena UBT, NCP(SP) and Congress) on one side and 'Mahayuti'(BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP) on another side will look to get on the winning side in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections when the results will be declared on 23 November.

Constituency watch: Malabar Hill

Malabar Hill is located in the Mumbai district of Maharashtra and has constituency number 185. The seat falls under the unreserved category. Polling in the Malabar Hill seat will take place on 20 November, as polls in Maharashtra will take place in a single phase. The counting of votes for Malabar Hill will take place on 23 November.

Key Candidates

The constituency will witness a contest between Mangal Prabhat Lodha, the sitting MLA of the Bhartiya Janata Party, and Bherulal Choudhary, who will be contesting on Uddhav Thackeray's ( Shiv Sena UBT) ticket. The two parties are part of the Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Agadhi alliances, respectively.

Maharashtra minister and BJP candidate from the Malabar Hills Assembly seat,Mangal Prabhat Lodha exuded confidence in the Mahayuti alliance forming the next government in the state.

"This time the people of Malabar Hills will contest this election by themselves. I will be with them. This time, crossing all the records we will register a big win. We will form a government in Maharashtra," Lodha told ANI.

Who won in the 2019 Assembly Elections?

In the 2019 Assembly elections, the Malabar Hill seat was won by BJP candidate Mangal Prabhat Lodha with a margin of 71,872 votes. The constituency witnessed a turnout of 45.2 % in the last assembly elections. A total of eight candidates will contest from the Malabar Hill constituency in which six are male candidates and two are female candidates.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting for all 288 constituencies set for November 23. In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42.
