One of Visvesvaraya's most notable achievements is the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) dam in Mandya. This monumental engineering feat transformed barren lands into fertile agricultural fields, providing irrigation to vast tracts of land and becoming a vital source of drinking water for numerous cities.

Beyond his engineering prowess, Visvesvaraya was a champion of industrialisation and education. He played a pivotal role in accelerating India's economic growth and promoting technological advancements. His visionary approach to development laid the foundation for the country's industrial progress.

Sir M. Visvesvaraya was awarded the Companion of the Order of the Indian Empire (CIE) and later the Knight Commander of the British Indian Empire (KCIE). In 1955, he received India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna.

Born in Bangalore, Visvesvaraya's family instilled in him strong principles that guided his life and career. His dedication to public service and his commitment to excellence were evident in all his endeavors.

Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya passed away on April 14, 1962, at the age of 102. In recognition of his extraordinary contributions, India Post issued a commemorative postage stamp on his 100th birthday, September 15, 1960. His legacy continues to inspire engineers and citizens alike.
