The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the exam dates for two major recruitment examinations. Candidates who are preparing for the SSC Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2025 (Tier-II) and the Junior Engineer Examination, 2025 (Paper-II) can now mark their calendars, as the schedules have been published on the official website, ssc.gov.in.
According to the official notice released by the Commission, the SSC CHSL Tier 2 examination is scheduled to take place on April 10, 2026, while the SSC JE Paper 2 examination will be conducted on April 7, 2026. These dates are important for thousands of candidates who successfully cleared the Tier 1 stage of these prestigious recruitment drives.
SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2026
The SSC CHSL Tier 2 examination is designed to assess candidates across multiple dimensions. As per the official announcement, the exam will be divided into four distinct sections :
Section I: This section will evaluate candidates on Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning, and General Intelligence.
Section II: This part will cover English Language and Comprehension, along with General Awareness.
Section III: A dedicated Computer Knowledge Test will be included to assess basic IT proficiency.
Section IV: This involves a Skill Test or Typing Test, which is qualifying in nature, depending on the post applied for.
It is important to note that while the Computer Knowledge Test and Skill Test components are qualifying, candidates must pass them to proceed in the selection process, as failure in these sections will result in disqualification, irrespective of performance in the merit-based sections. The final merit list for SSC CHSL is typically prepared based on a total of 360 marks from the main sections of Tier 2.
SSC JE Paper 2 Exam Pattern 2026
For engineering aspirants, the SSC JE Paper 2 is a critical stage. This examination is a computer-based test (CBE) specifically designed to test in-depth technical knowledge. The exam is structured into three parts, and candidates will be tested based on the engineering discipline they applied for :
Part A: General Engineering (Civil and Structural)
Part B: General Engineering (Electrical)
Part C: General Engineering (Mechanical)
The SSC JE Paper 2 will consist of 100 objective-type questions carrying a total of 300 marks, to be completed in a duration of 2 hours. A distinctive feature of this paper is the negative marking scheme; candidates should be aware that 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer. The marks obtained in this paper are crucial as they are merit-based and determine the final selection of candidates for Junior Engineer positions in various central government departments like CPWD, MES, and BRO.
