The Directorate of Elementary Education, Bikaner, under the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE), has formally published the examination schedule for the 2026 Class 5 and Class 8 board exams. This announcement marks a pivotal change in the academic calendar for the state.
Approximately 27 lakh students across Rajasthan are set to participate in these crucial annual assessments. The board has introduced a revised timetable, shifting the exams to earlier in the year, a departure from the longstanding tradition.
Key Highlights of the RBSE 5th and 8th Datesheet 2026Examination Period: The RBSE 8th class board examinations will commence on February 19, 2026, and conclude on March 4, 2026. Concurrently, the 5th class exams will be held from February 20, 2026, to March 5, 2026.
Exam Timing: Both sets of examinations will be conducted in a single daily shift from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
Application Status: The online application portal for both grades opened on December 18. Authorities report robust registration, with over 2.5 lakh applications already processed. The final deadline for submission is January 10, 2026.
The 2026 examination schedule introduces a major change. Historically, the Class 8 board exams were conducted alongside the Class 10 (Secondary) exams, while Class 5 exams typically took place in April. This year’s shift to a February-March window for both grades is a strategic move by the education department, aimed at streamlining the academic year and providing earlier results.
