From preventing impersonation to ensuring transparency for millions of candidates, Innovatiview is quietly powering one of India’s most high-stakes ecosystems — examinations.
At the heart of this revolution is Ashish Mittal, Founder and Whole-Time Director of Innovatiview India Pvt. Ltd., a company that has been instrumental in conducting some of the country’s largest and most sensitive exams, including SSC, GSSSB, Bihar Boards, and assessments for agencies like the National Testing Agency (NTA) and AIIMS.
In an exclusive conversation with Moneycontrol.com, Mittal shares how AI, automation, and intelligent surveillance are reshaping the way India conducts examinations — making them more secure, transparent, and future-ready.
AI at the Core of Examination Security“AI and automation have completely transformed how exams are conducted in India,” says Mittal. Innovatiview was among the first in the country to integrate artificial intelligence into CCTV surveillance and introduce touchless biometric verification for impersonation control.
“Earlier, much of the process — from verification to reporting — depended on manual checks. Today, our AI-driven systems ensure real-time monitoring, detect anomalies, and curb malpractices such as impersonation, copying, or tampering with OMR sheets,” he explains.
Through its integrated command control room, Innovatiview enables clients to monitor multiple examination centres simultaneously, supported by tools like facial recognition, VoIP communication, GPS tracking, and AI-based CCTV analytics — creating an evidence-based decision-making ecosystem in real time.
A Multi-Layered Security EcosystemInnovatiview operates through three verticals — ISaaS, ERaaS, and SIaaS — each adding a layer of technological resilience to the examination process.
Together, these services have helped Innovatiview build a multi-layered, auditable security framework that not only prevents malpractice but also enhances transparency and operational efficiency.
“In FY24 alone, Innovatiview secured 735 exams across India, monitored 44,045 exam venues, and safeguarded 34.46 million candidates,” shares Mittal. “We also scanned over 44 million biometrics, and on a single day, our systems supported 2.4 million candidates.”
Tackling the Scale and Complexity of Indian ExamsConducting exams for millions of candidates across thousands of locations presents unique challenges. “Each centre differs in infrastructure, connectivity, and manpower. The key is maintaining uniformity and real-time coordination,” Mittal explains.
Innovatiview’s network of over 5,100 vendor firms and regional offices enables seamless execution, even in remote parts of India. These vendors supply local equipment, security personnel, and logistical support — ensuring consistent quality and speed across all examination zones.
“Malpractices like impersonation or cheating undermine public trust,” says Mittal. “Our systems are designed to uphold fairness and integrity at scale, ensuring every candidate gets an equal opportunity.”
Innovation Beyond Exams: Elections and EventsInnovatiview’s expertise in examination security has naturally expanded into other high-security domains like elections and large-scale public events.
“In 2024, we provided CCTV surveillance for 16.38% of India’s districts during the General Elections,” Mittal reveals. “We also supported state elections in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in 2023.”
For elections, the company offers real-time CCTV monitoring, biometric verification, and GPS tracking across polling booths, counting halls, and patrolling vehicles. Similarly, for large-scale events such as Kumbh Mela, Chhath Puja, and Republic Day parades, Innovatiview’s CamView offering provides AI-enabled CCTVs that detect motion, overcrowding, and unauthorized entry.
“Our surveillance architecture allows for live broadcasting and data-backed incident response, ensuring safety and transparency in mass gatherings,” says Mittal.
Balancing Security and Candidate ExperienceWhile security remains paramount, Innovatiview also emphasizes creating a frictionless experience for candidates.
“In 2022, we established an examination centre with over 4,700 computer nodes in Noida, fully equipped with CCTVs, biometric devices, communication systems, and internet connectivity,” Mittal notes. “We’re also setting up CBT (Computer-Based Test) centres across Bihar to provide long-term infrastructure for secure examinations.”
By integrating technology into every layer of logistics and candidate management, Innovatiview ensures that its systems work “quietly in the background” — rigorous yet seamless, allowing candidates to focus entirely on their tests.
The Road Ahead: Intelligent, Predictive, FrictionlessLooking ahead, Mittal envisions a future where AI doesn’t just monitor but predicts and prevents malpractice before it occurs.
“We’re investing heavily in R&D, exploring technologies like IoT and blockchain to enhance automation, scalability, and transparency,” he shares. “Our goal is to make examination security more intelligent and frictionless — ensuring that technology supports fairness without adding stress to the candidate’s experience.”
A New Standard for IntegrityFrom empowering millions of students to strengthening the credibility of India’s examination system, Innovatiview’s story is one of innovation meeting integrity.
As Mittal aptly concludes, “We build systems where efficiency meets ethics — where fairness is not an afterthought but the foundation.”
