The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the admit cards for the Main Examination 2026 for private candidates of Class 10 and Class 12. Eligible candidates can now download their admit cards from the official website, cbse.gov.in. The admit card is a mandatory document and must be carried to the examination centre on all exam days.
The admit card contains subject wise details for both Class 10 and Class 12 examinations. It clearly mentions theory marks, practical or internal assessment marks, total marks, and the minimum marks required to pass each subject. Core subjects such as English, Hindi, Mathematics and Science follow the 80 marks theory and 20 marks internal assessment pattern. Vocational and skill based subjects have different marking schemes, including 60+40, 70+30, or 50+50, depending on the subject.
Students are advised to carefully check the subject codes and subject names mentioned on the admit card. Any mismatch may lead to issues during the examination. CBSE has stressed that selecting correct subject codes during registration is essential to avoid errors at later stages.
CBSE has clarified that four categories of candidates are eligible to appear for the examinations as private candidates. These include private candidates who are not enrolled in regular CBSE-affiliated schools, essential repeat candidates who need to reappear in all subjects after failing earlier, compartment candidates who have failed in one or two subjects, and improvement of performance candidates who wish to improve their scores after passing the examination.
