The Sainik School Society has released the merit list for the next stage of the Sainik School e-counselling process for admissions through AISSEE 2026. Candidates shortlisted through the AISSAC counselling portal will now proceed to the medical examination stage as part of the admission process for Sainik Schools and New Sainik Schools across the country.
The shortlisting has been conducted based on merit and eligibility conditions. Candidates have been selected in a ratio of up to three times the number of vacancies available. The selection has been processed through the All India Sainik Schools Admission Counselling (AISSAC) portal, which manages the admission process for participating institutions.
The selection list for the medical examination stage has been prepared using several eligibility parameters. Authorities considered the inter se merit position secured by candidates in the AISSEE 2026 examination and their successful registration on the AISSAC counselling portal. Candidates were shortlisted only after verifying their eligibility status and qualification in the entrance examination.
Domicile status has also played a role in the shortlisting process. Candidates belonging to states that host Sainik Schools or New Sainik Schools are considered for institutions located within their domicile state. This consideration is subject to seat availability and the candidate’s merit ranking in the entrance examination.
The number of available seats in each institution was also taken into account during the preparation of the merit list. Only candidates meeting all eligibility conditions and qualifying in AISSEE 2026 have been considered for this stage of the admission process.
Some candidates belong to states where Sainik Schools or New Sainik Schools are not available. These candidates are categorised under the ‘Other State’ category during the counselling process. Applicants in this category who have registered on the AISSAC portal and qualified in AISSEE 2026 are eligible for consideration across multiple schools where seats remain vacant.
Such candidates are evaluated based on the priorities submitted during counselling. Their candidature is assessed after considering the schools they selected on the portal and their All India Ranking secured in the entrance examination.

The medical examination for candidates in the ‘Other State’ category will take place after the school prioritisation stage is completed. Candidates must select their preferred schools on the AISSAC portal as part of the counselling procedure.
After submission of school preferences, the system will allocate or shortlist candidates for specific schools. The allocation process is based on the order of school preference provided by candidates, their All India Rank and their position in the inter se merit list.
Only candidates who are allotted or shortlisted for a particular school through the AISSAC system will proceed to the medical examination stage. Further updates regarding the admission process are expected to be announced through the official counselling portal.
