
The Telangana municipal elections recorded robust participation, with polling for 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations concluding on February 11 with a turnout of 73.01%, according to the State Election Commission (SEC). The focus now shifts to counting day, as results are set to determine the political direction of urban Telangana.
Counting date and where to check results
Vote counting will be held today, February 13, beginning at 8 am. Ward-wise results will be published on the official website of the Telangana State Election Commission at tsec.gov.in.

Polling timeline and turnout trends
Polling commenced on the morning of February 11 and saw steady voter participation through the day. Turnout reached 11.6% by 9 am, 28.48% by 11 am, 48.54% by 1 pm, and 62.09% by 3 pm. Final figures released by the SEC pegged overall turnout at 73.01%.
Among municipalities, Choutuppal in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district recorded the highest turnout at 91.91%, while Nandikonda in Nalgonda district reported the lowest at 59.68%.
In municipal corporations, Nalgonda saw 77.36% voting, whereas Nizamabad recorded 59.12%.
Conduct of elections and security arrangements
The civic polls were conducted on party lines across all 116 municipalities and seven corporations. Earlier, 29,656 Booth Level Officers had been deployed statewide for electoral roll revision activities.
Director General of Police B Shivadhar Reddy oversaw security arrangements, with police deployed extensively to ensure smooth polling.
Isolated incidents reported
According to media reports, minor tensions were reported in a few districts. In Karimnagar, police carried out a mild lathi charge after BJP workers allegedly blocked a road near a bus stand, claiming impersonation at a polling booth. Some party workers sustained minor injuries.
In Sangareddy, Congress leader and former MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy reportedly had a heated exchange with police over allegations of bogus voting.
In Nizamabad, an FIR was registered against BJP MP Arvind Dharmapuri under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Telangana Municipalities Act. He was accused of entering a polling station, arguing with officials and police personnel, and making remarks against them.
Key leaders cast their votes
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy exercised his franchise in Kodangal in Vikarabad district. Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar voted in Karimnagar.
State Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud expressed confidence in the party's prospects, while BJP leader and Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy said his party would perform strongly despite alleging irregularities by the ruling party.

The municipal poll outcome is being closely watched as a litmus test for the Congress government, the BJP's expansion plans, and the BRS's attempt to regain ground in Telangana's urban political landscape.
