Lucknow cop slaps Army Colonel for objecting to wrong-side driving | Watch

In a road rage incident caught on CCTV, a senior police officer allegedly slapped a serving Army Colonel in front of his family on a busy street in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, News18 reported.

As per the report, the altercation reportedly began when Inspector Vinay Kumar Saroj was spotted driving on the wrong side of the road on June 21.

Colonel Anand Prakash Suman, who was approaching from the correct direction, confronted the inspector about driving on the wrong side. In response, Vinay allegedly stepped out of his vehicle and slapped the Army officer through the car window in front of his wife and daughter, the report added.

As per the report, the Colonel, in his lawsuit, said he was assaulted in front of his wife and children and claimed that the inspector assaulted him when he questioned him about his reckless driving. The Colonel also alleged that the accused tried to crush him between both vehicles and ran over his left foot before fleeing.

The video has gone viral, sparking public anger. “This needs immediate dismissal from service. Upholder of law is a violator, and punishing a guy who is trying to correct him." Another one wrote, “Please take strict action against such police personnel. It is the high-handedness of police personnel as if they can do whatever they want on the road. Challan should also be issued to him," an X user was quoted by News18 as saying.
