The latest batch of Epstein files released by the Department of Justice has revealed an email that mentions filmmaker Mira Nair, the mother of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, in connection with a high-profile afterparty held for her movie 'Amelia' in 2009.
The US Justice Department on Friday released over three million pages of documents, including 2,000 videos and 1,80,000 images, on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
An email dated October 21, 2009, sent by publicist Peggy Siegal to Jeffrey Epstein, also surfaced in documents. The email, sent in the early hours, right after Siegal left the gathering, gives an insight into the afterparty.
Mira Nair, attended a swanky afterparty at convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell’s house for her film “Amelia,” that was also attended by former President Bill Clinton and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, according to an email sent by publicist Peggy Siegal, The New York Post reported.
“Just left Ghislaine’s townhouse…after party for film. Bill Clinton and Jeff Bezos were there… Jean Pigozzi, director Mira Nair… etc. Film received tepid reaction though women like it much more… Hillary Swank and [Richard] Gere are at stupid party in Bloomingdales cheap sportswear department… very weird,” the email read.
She added more detail about the promotional strategy, writing, “Studio went for free party from store and windows for a month… Going to be in Wall Street 2 tomorrow ….more to come. xoxo Peg."
The message was one of hundreds of thousands of documents unsealed as part of the Justice Department’s latest disclosure related to Epstein’s crimes and his interactions with prominent figures.
Nair directed Amelia, a biographical drama starring Hilary Swank as aviator Amelia Earhart and Richard Gere as her husband, publisher George Putnam.
