Volkswagen India has started the local assembly of the Tayron R-Line in the country. The seven-seater SUV is being assembled at the company's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra.
The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line will be launched in India in the current quarter. This is the second R-Line model to enter the Indian market in quick succession, following the launch of the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line last year.
The Tayron R-Line is claimed to be the most premium SUV from Volkswagen India. It showcases the signature R-Line styling with sportier detailing.
The SUV has a rather sleek front, while the rear looks relatively sharp. You get the IQ.Light HD Matrix LED lights. While the Tayron R-Line drives on 19-inch alloy wheels, you find R-Line detailing all around. The illuminated VW logo adds to the character of the SUV.
On the inside, the Tayron R-Line seems to be the most premium VW SUV in India to date. While you get all leatherette seats, a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment adds to the plush nature of the cabin. Among others, the SUV boasts ambient lighting in 30 colours, ventilated and massage seats, and a panoramic sunroof.
So far as the powertrain is concerned, the Tayron R-Line employs the 2.0-litre TSI EVO petrol engine from the Tiguan R-Line. It delivers 204PS of maximum power and 320Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic. The SUV features Volkswagen's 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.
The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line price in India is expected to be close to Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner Legender and the upcoming MG Majestor.
