Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) will launch the most advanced iteration of its micro SUV, the Punch facelift, in India on January 13, 2026. This will be the first major update for the internal combustion engine (ICE) model since its market entry in October 2021.
The Tata Punch is one of the largest-selling SUVs in India. It is the fastest SUV in the country to cross the sales milestone of 6 lakh units, achieving the mark in under four years. Along with the Nexon, the Punch has played a key role in establishing Tata as a major player in the SUV space.
From the teasers released by Tata, it becomes quite clear that the Punch facelift is arriving with significant exterior and interior updates. The front has been redesigned on the lines of bigger SUVs like the Nexon, Curvv, Harrier and Safari with slim LED DRLs placed over the vertically stacked LED headlamps. At the rear, you will see connected LED taillamps now, something that has become quite common in cars these days. The new Punch will also get a new set of alloys.

Inside the cabin, you will find a redesigned dashboard layout. The instrument panel will be a completely digital unit, and there will be a new free-standing touchscreen infotainment, which will be like the units we have seen on bigger Tata SUVs. The semi-touch-based panel for air-con controls will make its way to the Punch facelift's cabin.
Among others, the new Punch will get features like a 360-degree camera, six airbags, a wireless charger and an electric sunroof.
Talking about the powertrain options, the outgoing Punch gets a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine (88PS of maximum power and 115Nm of peak torque) mated to a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. There is also a CNG option (73PS and 103Nm) with a 5-speed MT. We expect these powertrains to be available in the Punch facelift.

But, as the teasers show, the Punch facelift will come with a turbo-petrol engine as well. This could be the Nexon's 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine (120PS and 170Nm) with a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AMT.
The outgoing Punch is priced between Rs 5.50 lakh and Rs 9.30 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect the Tata Punch facelift price in India to be in the range of Rs 5.75 lakh to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tata Punch facelift will rival the likes of the Hyundai Exter, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
