The Nissan Gravite, launched in India earlier this week, has become the most affordable multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) on sale in the country, with its price starting at Rs 5,65,000 (ex-showroom). The new model is Rs 11,300 cheaper than the Renault Triber.

The Gravite is the first product under Nissan's renewed vehicle offensive in India. The company will follow it up with two more models -- a 5-seater mid-size SUV (Tekton) by mid-CY26 and a 7-seater SUV by early CY27.

There are no changes to the powertrains, and they are similar to what we see in the Triber. The Gravite uses a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 72PS and 96Nm, and comes mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. Claimed mileage is 19.3kmpl for MT and 19.6kmpl for AMT.

The Gravite is available in five variants -- Visia, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna Launch Edition. The Launch Edition is limited to 1,001 units. The following are their prices (ex-showroom).

The Gravite offers flexible seating for two to seven occupants. Boot space stands at 625 litres in the five-seater configuration, 320 litres in six-seater mode and 84 litres in seven-seater layout. The third-row seats are removable to expand luggage capacity.

Feature highlights include an 8-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a wireless charger, front and rear parking sensors, and walk-away lock with approach unlock.

On safety, Nissan claims over 30 standard features. These include six airbags, electronic stability control, traction control system, hill-start assist, brake assist and ABS with EBD.
