Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) offers some of the most butch SUVs in India, from the new Sierra to the Harrier and the Safari. However, two models that have solidified the company's position in the SUV segment are the Punch and the Nexon.
Although the Punch and the Nexon are smaller models in TMPV's SUV portfolio, both are the highest-selling SUVs in their respective segments.
While the Tata Punch leads the micro-SUV segment, the Tata Nexon is the dominant player in the slightly larger compact SUV segment.

The Punch posted its best-ever monthly sales of 19,257 units in January 2026, while also surpassing cumulative sales of 7,00,000 units during the month, becoming the fastest model in the industry to achieve the feat in just over four years and three months.
January 2026 was a special month for the Nexon as well, as it posted its highest-ever monthly sales of 23,365 units and crossed the cumulative sales milestone of 10,00,000 units since its introduction to the market in calendar year (CY) 2017.
The performance of these two models last month follows their strong show in CY25, when both were among the 10 best-selling cars in India.

For reference, the Punch clocked sales of 1,73,502 units in CY25, averaging 14,458 units a month. On the other hand, the Nexon had its best-ever annual outing in CY25, selling 2,00,561 units, with a monthly average of 16,713 units.
Tata launched the new Punch in its internal combustion engine (ICE) avatar in January 2026, priced between Rs 5,59,900 and Rs 10,54,900 (ex-showroom). The company will introduce the new Punch.ev on February 20.
The Nexon ICE sits in the price bracket of Rs 7,31,890 to Rs 14,15,290 (ex-showroom), while the Nexon.ev is available in the price range of Rs 12,49,000 to Rs 17,49,000 (ex-showroom).
