Hyundai Motor India has announced that the Hyundai Creta has recorded its highest-ever annual sales, crossing the 2 lakh unit mark in calendar year 2025 (CY25). The milestone makes the Creta the first mid-size SUV in the country to achieve this volume in a single calendar year, according to the company.

Hyundai said the annual sales performance translates into an average of 550 units being sold every day during CY25. The company clarified that the daily average has been calculated after adjusting for three national holidays, considering 362 selling days in the year.

The automaker stated that the Creta has continued to dominate the mid-size SUV segment, remaining the best-selling SUV in the category on a cumulative basis over the last five years. In CY25, the model commanded a market share of over 34% in the mid-size SUV segment, placing it significantly ahead of rivals in one of India's most competitive passenger vehicle (PV) categories.

The Hyundai Creta rivals the likes of the Tata Sierra, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Mahindra Thar Roxx, Tata Curvv, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor.

CY25 also marked a decade since the launch of the Creta in India. Hyundai said the brand has recorded a compound annual growth rate of over 9% between CY16 and CY25, underscoring its sustained volume growth despite increasing competition and multiple new launches in the segment.

According to the company, the share of first-time Creta buyers has increased from 13% in CY20 to 32% in CY25. In CY25, the sunroof-equipped variants contributed more than 70% to Creta sales, while the diesel powertrain had a share of 44%.

The Creta is available in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) avatars. The Creta ICE is priced between Rs 10.73 lakh and Rs 20.20 lakh (ex-showroom). The Creta Electric sits in the price bracket of Rs 18.02 lakh to Rs 24.55 lakh (ex-showroom).

For buyers opting for the ICE variant, there are three engine choices -- a 1.5-litre MPi petrol producing 115PS and 144Nm, a 1.5-litre Kappa Turbo GDi petrol delivering 160PS and 253Nm, and a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel generating 116PS and 250Nm of torque.

Transmission options vary depending on the engine. The 1.5-litre MPi petrol can be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an IVT automatic. The 1.5-litre Kappa Turbo GDi petrol comes with a 7-speed DCT automatic, while the 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel offers a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

For those seeking a sportier drive, there is the Creta N Line, which is equipped with the 1.5-litre Kappa Turbo GDi petrol engine, available with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic.

The Creta Electric gets two battery pack options -- 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The smaller battery provides a claimed range of 390km, while the larger battery extends the range up to a claimed 473km.
