Carmakers like Maruti Suzuki India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Honda Cars India offer relatively affordable hybrid cars that return high mileage.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Invicto, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Toyota Innova Hycross and Honda City e:HEV are five affordable hybrid options (petrol + electric powertrains) that can he had for less than Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom). Let us have a look at the mileage and pricing of these hybrid cars in more detail.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
The Grand Vitara is available as a pure-petrol SUV as well as in a hybrid form. With its ARAI-certified mileage of 27.97 kmpl, the Grand Vitara hybrid is good for 1,259 km on a single full 45-litre tank.
The Grand Vitara hybrid is priced between Rs 16.99 lakh and Rs 20.68 lakh (ex-showroom).
Maruti Suzuki Invicto
Maruti's Invicto is essentially the badge-engineered version of Toyota's Innova Hycross. The Invicto hybrid sits in the price range of Rs 25.51 lakh to Rs 29.22 lakh (ex-showroom). Its ARAI-certified mileage is 23.24 kmpl. The MPV has a 52-litre tank. With the tank full, the vehicle can cover 1,208 km.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder
For the uninitiated, Maruti's Grand Vitara and Toyota's Urban Cruiser Hyryder are same cars developed jointly by Japanese auto majors, Suzuki and Toyota. The vehicles share platform, powertrains and features. It is only that the Grand Vitara is sold from Maruti's Nexa showrooms, and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder from Toyota showrooms.
Like the Grand Vitara, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder also has both pure-petrol and hybrid forms. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder hybrid's ARAI-certified mileage is 27.97 kmpl. On a full 45-litre tank, the SUV is capable of covering 1,259 km. The hybrid version is priced between Rs 16.81 lakh and Rs 20.19 lakh (ex-showroom).
Toyota Innova Hycross
The Innova Hycross comes in both pure-petrol and hybrid versions. However, Toyota offers only the hybrid version to Maruti and not the pure-petrol version.
Coming back to the Innova Hycross, its hybrid version has a mileage of 23.24 kmpl, as certified by ARAI. A full 52-litre tank is good for 1,208 km. The price of the hybrid version starts at Rs 26.31 lakh and goes up to Rs 31.34 lakh (ex-showroom).
Honda City e:HEV
The City e:HEV is the hybrid version of the popular City sedan. Its ARAI-certified mileage is 27.26 kmpl. With a 40-litre fuel tank, the vehicle can cover a distance of more than 1,090 km.
Available in a single fully-loaded version, the City e:HEV is priced at Rs 20.85 lakh (ex-showroom).
