SIAM expects supportive government policies and market confidence to aid the industry's trajectory next year.

The demand drivers have extended beyond the festive period as suggested by a growth in PV and two-wheeler wholesales in November 2025.

The passenger vehicle (PV) and two-wheeler wholesales touched new November highs in 2025, reflecting sustained demand in the domestic market even after the festive period. The industry reported strong double-digit growth in both categories, driven by improved sentiments and the impact of recent policy reforms, according to recent data from the industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

The domestic PV wholesales rose to 4,12,405 units in November 2025, up 18.7% year-on-year (y-o-y) from 3,47,522 units a year ago. This is the highest-ever November tally for the segment.

The two-wheeler market also recorded its strongest November on record. The domestic volumes grew 21.2% y-o-y to 19,44,475 units compared with 16,04,749 units a year earlier. The segment's performance was led by scooters, which surged 29.4% y-o-y to 7,35,753 units. Motorcycles grew 17.5% y-o-y to 11,63,751 units, while mopeds posted a marginal decline of 2.1% y-o-y at 44,971 units.

SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said, "Following the festive demand and support from the government's progressive Goods and Services Tax (GST) 2.0 reforms, the Indian auto industry continued with the sales momentum in November 2025. PVs, two-wheelers and three-wheelers marked the highest ever sales of November in 2025."

"Industry is optimistic that the continued supportive policy reforms and improved market sentiments would continue this growth trajectory well into 2026," he added.

The three-wheeler segment also contributed to overall industry momentum with 21.3% y-o-y growth and total sales of 71,999 units. Passenger carriers grew 24.6% y-o-y, goods carriers rose 10.9% y-o-y, while the e-rickshaw subcategory declined 25.6% y-o-y. E-cart volumes grew at 87.9% y-o-y.

On the production side, SIAM reported a total output of 29,43,456 units across PVs, two-wheelers, three-wheelers and quadricycles in November 2025.

The sustained rise in PV and two-wheeler sales suggests that demand drivers have extended beyond the festive period. Higher retail activity in urban centres, improving rural sentiment and model upgrades across segments are expected to keep volumes stable through the final quarter of FY26. SIAM expects supportive government policies and market confidence to aid the industry's trajectory next year.
