  • BMW India sold 18,001 cars in 2025, marking 14% YoY growth and record sales
  • SUVs drove growth with 22% YoY rise; BMW X1 was the top-selling model
  • EV sales surged 200% YoY, making up 21% of BMW India's total sales in 2025

BMW India posted its highest-ever annual car sales in 2025, selling 18,001 vehicles and registering a 14% year-on-year (YoY) growth, underscoring strong demand for the German luxury carmaker amid a challenging market environment. Of the total sales, BMW accounted for 17,271 units, while MINI contributed 730 units.

This marks the fourth consecutive year of double-digit growth for BMW in India. The company said its quarterly growth rates in 2025 were consistently higher than the average luxury car segment. Sales in the October–December quarter hit an all-time high of 6,023 units, reflecting a more than 17% YoY growth.

A key driver of the strong performance was BMW’s sports utility vehicle (SUV) portfolio, which recorded a 22% YoY growth at 10,748 units, accounting for 60% of the company’s total car sales. The BMW X1 emerged as the highest-selling model, followed by the BMW X5.

Commenting on the performance, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said, “Sales are growing across segments, whether it is internal combustion engines or electric vehicles, sports activity vehicles, sedan or long wheelbase models. We have sustained our lead in the luxury electric segment.”

During the year, BMW Group India, including its Motorrad brand, undertook an aggressive product push, launching 20 new products across its portfolio. Key introductions included the BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase, BMW X3, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, MINI JCW Countryman All4 and the MINI Convertible.

BMW also consolidated its leadership in the luxury electric vehicle (EV) segment. The company sold 3,753 BMW and MINI EVs in 2025, recording a growth of over 200% YoY.

EVs accounted for 21 per cent of BMW India’s total sales, up sharply from 8% in 2024. The BMW iX1 was the highest-selling EV not only for the brand but also across the premium EV segment in India.

In the broader context, India’s luxury car market—excluding Sweden’s Volvo and comprising Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover and Audi—grew by 6% YoY to 46,346 units in 2024. While Mercedes-Benz, the segment leader, is set to announce its 2025 India sales next week, overall industry volumes are expected to witness sluggish growth compared to 2024, largely due to weaker performance by Audi and Volvo.

Beyond cars, BMW Motorrad delivered 5,841 motorcycles in 2025. The BMW G 310 RR was the highest-selling smart-cc bike, recording over 24% growth in deliveries. The high-end imported motorcycle portfolio grew by more than 7 per cent YoY, with strong demand for models such as the BMW S 1000 RR, BMW 900 GS/GSA and BMW 1300 GS/GSA.

As of January 8, 2026, BMW Group India operates 97 touch points across the BMW, MINI and Motorrad brands in 40 cities. The company plans to further expand its footprint in 2026 by adding 19 new outlets across 18 cities, reinforcing its focus on accessibility and customer experience in the Indian market.
