White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director and Assistant to US President Michael Kratsios will lead a high-level US delegation to the AI Impact Summit in India, with senior policy advisor Sriram Krishnan joining the team for discussions on global AI cooperation and standards.
Kratsios is expected to use the summit to provide an update on former President Donald Trump’s America AI Exports programme. This program was created through an executive order to promote the adoption of US technology stacks worldwide.
Other members of the delegation include Undersecretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg, Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade William Kimmitt, and Undersecretary of Commerce for Industry and Security Jeffrey Kessler.
The India AI Impact Summit is scheduled to be held between February 16 - 20.
The visit will come at a time when the India and US have signed a trade deal, cutting reciprocal tariffs on India to 18 per cent from 25 per cent and eliminate non-tariff barriers. India will reduce its own trade barriers and boost purchases of US energy, technology, and agricultural products as part of a bilateral trade deal.
The group will also participate in meetings alongside the US Ambassador to India during engagements in New Delhi.
In a post on X, Kratsios said the United States was "setting the gold standard for AI innovation" and wanted to share that approach with global partners.
Krishnan said he was "excited to be a part of the U.S. delegation" attending the summit in India this month.
The AI Impact Summit is one of the largest global gatherings of policymakers and industry leaders focused on artificial intelligence.
This year's edition marks the first time the event is being held in the Global South.
