NVIDIA has partnered with Bharat1 AI Research & Innovation City to build a large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) innovation campus in Bengaluru, modelled on France’s Station F startup hub, in a move aimed at creating a unified ecosystem for AI researchers, startups, and enterprises in India.

The proposed B1 AI Superpark is designed to house more than 25,000 AI researchers and engineers and will serve as the first operational phase of the broader Bharat1 AI City, a sustainable AI innovation district focused on building AI technologies from India for global markets.

The announcement comes amid growing policy and industry momentum around AI in India, including discussions at the India-AI Impact Summit hosted under the government’s IndiaAI Mission.

The project is backed by entrepreneurs and investors Umakant Soni, Subhashis Banerjee and Sireesh Reddy, who bring experience across AI investing, research institutions and large-scale infrastructure development.

Planned as India’s largest dedicated AI innovation campus, the project outlays nearly 4 million square feet of commercial research and development space spanning AI labs, startups, applied research centres, and product companies.

Development will begin with a 500,000 square feet facility in Bengaluru that will anchor the larger ecosystem.

Under the collaboration, NVIDIA will provide startups access to its accelerated computing software stack and AI infrastructure.

Companies operating within the Superpark will also gain entry into NVIDIA’s Inception programme, which supports startups with technology enablement, ecosystem access and growth opportunities, including connections to investors through the NVIDIA Inception VC Alliance.

The initiative seeks to address key constraints faced by Indian AI startups, particularly access to advanced compute infrastructure, global go-to-market channels and long-term capital.

By co-locating researchers, founders, enterprises and investors within a single campus, the developers aim to replicate global innovation cluster models that have accelerated startup scaling in other markets.

Subhashis Banerjee, co-founder of B1 AI Superpark, said, “We are building and funding AI startups from the world’s most tech talent dense country, Bharat, in its most talent dense city, Bangalore. Startups here face major challenges including access to accelerated computing resources, access to global corporations for go-to-market purposes, and access to smart, knowledgeable long-term capital."

Tobias Halloran, Director of EMEAI Startups and Venture Capital at NVIDIA, said India’s AI startup ecosystem is primed for acceleration, driven by exceptional technical talent and

global ambition. “NVIDIA is accelerating this momentum by giving founders direct access to accelerated computing, scalable AI infrastructure, and programs like NVIDIA Inception and the Inception VC Alliance—helping startups scale faster and build for global markets.”

The broader Bharat1 AI City is projected to generate nearly one exabyte of 4D data annually to support frontier AI research and applied innovation.
