Tata owned XFR is looking at setting up a manufacturing plant in India. The manufacturing facility will also manufacture engines and if sources are to believed, Gujarat and Maharashtra are the two states which have found favour with JLR. Moreover JLR seems to eye the Indian sub-continent as an export hub for its European operations. As of now, JLR assembles the Freelander 2 from its Pune assembly plant. The Jaguar product range in India includes the XJ, XF, XFR, XKR and the XKR-S. For Land Rover, it includes the Freelander 2, Discovery 4, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover and the recently launched Range Rover Evoque.

China and India are the big markets where Jaguar is looking to invest huge amounts of money.Jaguar currently has a joint venture with Chery automobiles in China and recently the company had invested $540 million. In China, during 2011, the union sold 42,000 units as against the 2000 units that JLR sold in India. The intended manufacturing facility in India, expected to be up by 2015, will most probably start with the manufacture of the Defender SUV.
