NTPC Q1 net profit up 13% at Rs 2,076 cr

Country's largest power generation company NTPC has reported nearly 13% rise in its first quarter FY12 net profit to Rs 2,076 crore against Rs 1841.9 crore in the year ago period.

    Country's largest power generation company NTPC has reported nearly 13% rise in its first quarter FY12 net profit to Rs 2,076 crore against Rs 1841.9 crore in the year ago period.


    Net sales went up 9.5% to Rs 14,171 crore from Rs 12,944.5 crore year-on-year.


    Numbers were slightly below expectations - CNBC-TV18 poll saw bottomline at Rs 2,104.08 crore and topline of Rs 14,310.63 crore.


    Expenditure was up 10% to Rs 119.46 crore from Rs 108.21 crore year-on-year.


    Fuel cost has gone up 12% in the June quarter to Rs 9,750 crore from Rs 8,700 crore in the year ago period.


    EBITDA increased 2% to Rs 2,866 crore versus Rs 2,806 crore while CNBC-TV18 expected at Rs 3,310 crore.


    Operating profit margin in the first quarter stood at 20.23% against 21.67% year-on-year.

    Other income jumped to Rs 644 crore from Rs 510 crore.
