August 07, 2013 / 10:02 IST

Mutual Funds were hammered badly in yesterday’s session as markets performed badly on the back of  sliding rupee, worsening economic data and dismal quarterly corporate earnings.

No gainers were registered in any of the equity categories. Even the sector funds were in line with market breadth and closed in red.

The market session closed with Sensex at 18733.04, down 449.22 points and Nifty closed at 5542.25, down 143.15 points over the previous close.

The fixed income funds also closed in red owing to weak rupee condition. The funds will remain volatile amid volatile market.
