The campaign for linking of the Aadhaar numbers with the Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) would commence on March 9 in the union territory, Chief Electoral Officer T Sreekanth said today.

The exercise coming under the Election Commission's initiative for 'National Electoral Rolls Purification and Authentication Programme` was to ensure that there was no multiple registration of names by the voters in various constituencies, he told reporters here. He appealed to the voters to come out with voluntary disclosure of multiple entries, if any, and they would be disposed off within 15 days.

The Booth Level officers (BLOs) would visit door to door from March 15 while the campaign for linking of the aadhaar numbers with the EPICs would commence on March 9 to collect details personally from the electorate.

Along with the details of the Aadhaar cards, mobile numbers and e-mail IDs of the voters would also be sought by the team of officers which would enable the election authorities to be in constant touch with the voters to provide election related service and information, he said.

Once the seeding the Aadhaar numbers with the EPIC data base was completed, the draft electoral rolls which would be published in October this year would be cent percent error free.
