Trai backs DoT's recos to regulate voice service apps

CNBC-TV18 learns that Trai has backed the Department of Telecom panel's recommendations to regulate voice services by over-the-top players.

It is bad news for apps like Whatsapp, Viber and Skype. The telecom regulator and the DoT panel on net neutrality seems to be on the same page as far as regulating the voice service applications are concerned.

CNBC-TV18 learns that Trai has backed the Department of Telecom panel's recommendations to regulate voice services by over-the-top players.

The recommendations are likely to be sent shortly.
